GIVING BACK

At Direct Global Trading, we believe in using our platform for good and we feel the importance of giving back. Here, you can take a look at some of our fantastic efforts to improve our local community and beyond!

99er Business Club - Ongoing

Direct Global Trading donates 99p every single day to Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. Although this doesn’t sound a lot, it soon adds up to £361.35 every year. In total, we’ve donated almost £10,000 to this amazing cause and are proud to support such a unique charity that guides families through their most difficult times.

Ice Cream Monday - July 2022

On the hottest day of the year, what better way to beat the heat than with a frozen sweet treat? Eddie, the best boss ever, secretly arranged for a local Ice cream van to surprise us and all staff members were able to select an ice cream of their choice. What a way to celebrate the DGT team! We enjoyed knickerbocker glories, raspberry sauce and even biscotti sprinkles! Just another day in the working life of Direct Global Trading.

Breakthrough Programme - January 2022-Present

One of DGT’s core values is development. As a company, we’re committed to developing people, recognising strong performance, harnessing potential and nurturing the talent displayed by our staff. With this in mind, we’re delighted to announce the launch of our Breakthrough Programme; a two year traineeship which gives candidates the opportunity to experience all elements of the business, advancing their skills in multiple disciplines. Our current candidates are Charlie and Leona. See you on the other side, guys!

School Sponsorship - April 2022

As part of their Easter celebrations, one of our local schools proudly performed their rendition of Roald Dahl’s Matilda! Their set designer approached us to see if we could help out. “How?” we asked. “What possible use could cardboard boxes have in a school play?” Turns out you’d be surprised - we supplied several packs of boxes to be used as props in the performance. Check out the transformation! The show was a huge hit with everybody and we were amazed by the talent. As Roald Dahl might say - utterly hopscotchy!

Ukraine Donation - March 2022

In March, it was a pleasure for us to be able to contribute over 1,000 cardboard boxes to local heroes. Their mission: to drive a lorry filled to the brim with clothing and other essentials to refugees in Poland and Ukraine. Donations poured in from the local community, but they still needed plenty of boxes to pack them in. That’s where we came in. The lorry made it across the border where donations were distributed to those in need. This wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing effort and teamwork from all those involved.

Jamie’s Holiday Raffle – December 2021

In the spirit of goodwill, our joyful joker, Jamie, raffled off one of his holiday days. All proceeds went to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and we raised approximately £60 for them. This will provide a splashy session in their hydrotherapy pool - way to go, Jamie!

Christmas Jumper Day – December 2021

As part of our seasonal celebrations, we all wore a Christmas jumper for our festive raffle and buffet lunch! Both buffet and raffle prizes were sourced from local retailers and the whole affair created a lot of excitement amongst us all! As well as our Core Value awards ceremony, prizes for the best jumper were also ready to be dished out to the worthy winners. Things may have become a little competitive, but it was all good fun!

In For The Chop – October 2021

Everyone’s favourite geek, Georgia, took the plunge and after having ‘Rapunzel-esque’ locks for a long time, chopped her hair to donate it to the Little Princess Trust. She donated a whopping 10 inches to be made into wigs for children suffering from hair loss due to cancer and other conditions. Hair’s to Georgia!

Macmillan Coffee Morning – September 2021

The whole team baked (or bought!) and together we managed to raise over £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support as well as treating our tastebuds to some delicious cake. A good time was had by all!

Local Hanging Basket Sponsorship – April 2017

Sometimes it’s about the big things, but let’s not forget that the little things are important too! When we were approached and asked to sponsor a hanging basket in one of the local villages, we were happy to oblige. We can’t think of a more cheerful spring sight than these brightly coloured blooms!

Forget Me Not 500 Rally – May 2015

In true Gumball fashion, we strapped a Christmas tree to an old banger and headed for the Nürburgring. As the saying goes…what happens on tour, stays on tour, but the highlight of the trip was managing to raise over £6,000 to help families at the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Huddersfield. Driver, we salute you!
