THE DGT ETHOS

While we’d be quite happy to write a wordy statement on our ethos, we believe in keeping things as simple as our values, so we’ve broken our beliefs down to show only the main areas.

 

Environment

Direct Global Trading aims to leave the planet in an enriched state. Treading water isn’t good enough for us; we want to conduct our operation in a way that improves the environment, not just maintains it. From the recycled cardboard in our boxes to working with local suppliers, we’re mindful of our carbon footprint. We also deliver our food frozen which means a longer shelf life and equals less waste, protecting the world and its inhabitants, whether they’re human or animal! Our impact on the environment affects decisions daily, even down to our carriers. We deliberately work with a carbon neutral courier, helping the earth to retain its beauty for today and for tomorrow. As if all that wasn’t enough, we recently installed energy-saving motion sensor lighting and moved away from plastic wrap, towards recycled cardboard covers and paper tape.

Giving Back

We believe in giving back. One way we love to give back to our local community is through our charity work. Our partnership with local hospice, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, is particularly significant to us. Direct Global Trading is extremely proud to be a member of their 99er Business Club where we donate 99p every single day. We’ve done this for many years and have been able to donate almost £10,000 to this worthwhile cause. For us, it’s a true pleasure to be able to support the amazing work of charities like this. We also love organising events – whether they’re big or small. No act of kindness is not worth undertaking and this translates to our staff too. As well as donating outwards, we love to celebrate them, whether that’s through our company bonus scheme or simply by throwing a Christmas party. It all adds up to a big difference.

People

We’re incredibly people orientated and make it a priority to invest in our staff, providing them with opportunities to assist their development and enhance their careers, now and for the future. Promoting from within is always our first port of call, creating possibilities for local people that are part of a local workforce. We believe in fair pay and always ensure we pay a salary appropriate for the role, regardless of any personal characteristics such as age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation etc. We aim to create a positive working environment centred around collaboration. So much so, that we carry out an annual employee survey, collecting honest feedback and helping us to implement further improvements. Over the years, we’ve been able to foster a culture that means people love coming to work everyday; we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have retained such a longstanding team.

Customers

Last but certainly not least, it’s our lovely customers! Our very first priority, our customers are the essence of our business and are at the centre of all we do. We understand that we couldn’t do what we love without them, so their opinions are invaluable to us. At Direct Global Trading, we’re not afraid to look inwards and change our behaviour in order to ensure we meet customer needs and provide the best experience possible. We carry out customer surveys so that we can reap meaningful feedback and respond appropriately. We’re proud to be a business which listens and looks after its customers and we’re grateful to purchasers for their trust in us.
